Lee Dean Platner, 73 of Grandfield, Oklahoma passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 26th, 2018.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home, Grandfield, Oklahoma.

Lee was born on January 25, 1945 in Batesville, IN to Lee G. and June L. Platner. He graduated from Grandfield High School in 1964. He then graduated from OK State Tech School in 1966. Dean majored in drafting, mechanical pipe, architectural and engineering.  Dean then enlisted in the USAF and was in Security Police from 1967 until 1971. He served in the  Vietnam War. He served a year in Turkey obtaining top secret clearance. He received an honorable discharge.  He returned to Grandfield and worked at Platner Oil Company from 1971 until 1974. He returned to OK State Tech from 1974 until 1976. He majored in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanics. He then moved to Snyder, TX where he met his wife, Julie Anne Acre. They were married on October 15, 1976. They returned to Grandfield where they made their home.

Dean enjoyed water skiing and drag racing in his younger years; later he enjoyed  traveling and camping with his wife.

He is survived by his children, Colby Platner and wife, Jenifer of Barksdale, LA, Daman Kraatz and wife, Karen of Bryan, TX; Melody Archer of Grandfield, OK; his brothers, Bobby Platner of Grandfield, OK, Glen Platner and wife, Karen of Broken Arrow, OK; Dale Platner and wife, Bonnie of Virginia; ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julie, on December 1, 2015, and his son, Charles Kraatz.
