Lorain Fitzgerald

Funeral service for Lorain Fitzgerald, 92 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Randy Schettler and her daughter in law, Kay Fitzgerald, PhD, officiating. 

Mrs. Fitzgerald passed away, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in Cement, Oklahoma.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lorain was born on March 8, 1925 in Brazene, Kansas, one of seven children to Melvin C. and Hannah (Schmidt) Houser. She grew up in the Lawton area and attended Lawton High School. She was an honor student and received many awards. She married Cecil Fitzgerald on August 10, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Mr. Fitzgerald passed away on September 19, 2008. Lorain worked at the Fort Sill PX for several years and was a Clerk Supervisor at the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Lawton Heights United Methodist Church and served on the Woman's Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Lawton Chapter. She enjoyed crafts and loved Christmas time. 

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Don and Kay  Fitzgerald, of Cement, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Dawn Michelle Fitzgerald, Michael Schettler, Randy Schetter, Keith Borders, and Kay-Alan Borders; five great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; five sisters; and one brothers.
