Lynda Diane Daugherty

November 28, 1953 ~ June 1, 2021 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Lynda Diane Daugherty, 67, of Grandfield, Oklahoma, returned to Heaven on Tuesday, June 1st in Wichita Falls, Texas.   Lynda was born November 28, 1953 at Shepherd Air Force Base to Luke Daugherty and Lois Thompkins Daugherty.  She was the 2nd of 5 children. She grew up in various places, but fell in love with Mancos, Colorado.  Most of her childhood years were spent in southwestern Oklahoma, where Lynda graduated Big Pasture High School in 1972.  She later received Nursing Certification from Vernon Regional Junior College.

Lynda was a dreamer.  She loved nature and sunflowers, saw beauty in things most ignored, and could nurture any plant back to health.  Full of life, she loved people and was often said to have never met a stranger.  Eternally proud of her sons, she bragged about each of them often.  She cherished her grandchildren and will be forever remembered as Mimi – the name she loved the most.

Lynda is survived by siblings Larry Swearingen and Deni of Burkburnett, Texas, Lanny Daugherty and Jan of Wichita Falls, Texas, Shelly (Daugherty) Arnold and Dean of Winterport, Maine, and Connie (Daugherty) Hales and Wayne of Searsport, Maine; her sons Colby Platner and Jennifer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, David Wampler and Kami of Grandfield, Oklahoma, and Micheal Wampler of Ponca City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Garrett and Easton Wampler and Hunter and Kamri Vann of Grandfield, Stone and Reagan Platner of Broken Arrow and Harlie and Hayden Wampler of Grand Prairie, Texas; and great-granddaughters Kynzlee and Emilia Wampler of Grandfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, nephews Joshua Swearingen and Kyle Fields.

A Celebration of Life Service for Lynda will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Gray Funeral Home in Grandfield with Pastor Mickey Stephens officiating.
