Obituary MAJ(R) David Lloyd Rittenhouse
LAWTON – MAJ(R) David Lloyd Rittenhouse died on 6 June 2022 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. David was born in Oakland, CA 9 May 1938 the son of Lloyd and Florence Rittenhouse.

David graduated from Sparks High School in Sparks, Nevada Class of 1956. He joined the United States Army on 19 June 1957. He had three tours in Vietnam and his awards include Master Parachute Badge, Royal Thai Master Parachute Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star with V Device, Bronze Star 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, and Air Medal 2nd Award. His most proud accomplishments were helping to create the Army Long-Range Reconnaissance Program and earning the title of Green Beret.

After retiring from the military, David had many notable accomplishments to include Executive Chef at North Carolina State University, Executive Chef at Colorado University, Food Service and Catering Manager at Duncan Regional Hospital, and manager of the Lawton Elks Lodge 1056. He was a long-standing member of Central Baptist Church of Lawton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma Rittenhouse of Lawton, and his sister Edith Hedges of Charleston, IL.

He is survived by his daughter Andrea Garibay of Cary, NC, Grandson Randy Garibay of Fort Worth, Grandson Sean Garibay and his wife Megan of Lawton and great-grandchildren Xander, Silas, and Elena, Grandson Anthony and wife Victoria of Lawton and great-grandchildren Kannon and Ember, his Son and Daughter-In-Law Brad and Selena Rittenhouse of Lawton, Granddaughter Madison Gorbet and her husband Michael and great-granddaughter EIlliora, and Granddaughter Dr. Maybree Lawrence and her husband Derek, his Son and Daughter-in-Law Allan Rittenhouse-Upham and Rebekah Upham, Grandchildren Azalea and Isaiah. He is also survived by his wife’s loving family daughter Diane Tucker and her husband Tom of Norman, grandchildren Allan and Beth-Anne, great grandson Holden, daughter Betty Jean Johnson and husband Kevin of Tulsa, grandson Chris Johnson and his wife Sarah and great-grandchildren Nathan, Sam, Micah, and Emma, grandson Dr. Derek Johnson and his wife Jenna and great-granddaughter McKenzie, Fred Werner and wife Kelly of Lawton, granddaughter Isabella, daughter Tonya Deiter and her husband Michael of Loveland, CO, granddaughter Jessica Deiter Hamme and her husband Corey Hamme, and great-grandchildren Dreyson and Vale Hamme, and daughter Carol and her husband Dr. Doug Rowles of Edmond, and granddaughters Jayne and Emilee, and brother-in-law Frank Hedges of Charleston, IL.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Elgin National Cemetery with full military honors.
