Memorial service for MSG (ret) Jacob R. DeBusk, 78, of Lawton will be at  11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brandon Johnson, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. 

Mr. DeBusk passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Inurnment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.  

Jake was born on September 3, 1938 in Harlan, Kentucky to James Russell and Elizabeth Louise (Angel) DeBusk. He grew up in Kentucky where he attended school. Jake joined the United States Army in September of 1956 and served in Korea, Germany and Vietnam as well as many states in America. While stationed in Germany, he married Erika Konig on May 5, 1958 in Wurzburg, Germany. Jake retired on November 1, 1977 at his last active service command at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While in the military, he received many awards and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Unit Citation and  Palm, Two Overseas Service Bars, Air Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Soldier's Medal, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, Marksman Qualification Badge and the Rifle M-14.  Jake then worked as a mechanic for Montgomery Ward for three years, and was the Fleet Manager at Budweiser Company for another three years and later was the manager at the PX at Fort Sill for five years. Jake was a member of the First Christian Church and was one of the first volunteers at Fort Sill National Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Erika, of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Margaret and James Lyons, and Peggy and Robert Lopez, all of Fletcher, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Michelle Stellflug and husband, Justin; and two great grandchildren, Adisyn  and Mia Stellflug; and granddaughter, Alicia Wilson.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary Alice Perkins.
