Marjorie M. Frampton

Marge was born in Locksburg, a small town in SW Arkansas June 28, 1924. She relocated to Lawton Oklahoma in 1933.

She graduated from Lawton High School in 1942. She lettered in tennis and was active in social clubs. Later in life she helped organize her Sr. Class reunions. Her nickname growing up was “Shorty”.

She married John A. Frampton Jr. on April 4, 1943. They had one son, John R. “Rick” Frampton.  Rick and his wife Mary reside in Allen, TX.  They have one daughter, Erin Nicole Frampton. Erin lives in Allen with Marge’s great grandchildren, twins Brennan August and Klayton Anthony Frampton who are 2 ½ years old. Marge was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews.

Marge was primarily a homemaker and the family CFO. She worked various jobs while John served in WWII and for John as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper at Trice Electronics in Lawton.

Hobbies included gardening, fishing, and crafts. She had a “green” thumb. She could make anything grow from a cutting or seed and enjoyed working in the yard. Her favorite rose was “Tropicana”. She had a collection of African violets until they became too much to handle. She then switched to cactus since they didn’t require as much time and attention.

Marge always liked to “wet a hook” as she would say. Many days were spent fishing on the lakes surrounding Lawton, vacations to the mountains of New Mexico for trout, and to Kansas where relatives had stock ponds of channel cat.

Marge could knit up a storm and made many large blankets. She would also knit head covers for Rick and John’s golf clubs. She and a number of her friends held weekly craft time and would make everything from Christmas ornaments to home and holiday accents. She was also fond of doing embroidery and would make dish cloths with a variety of themes.

Marge was a OU Sooner fan for many years but then switched her allegiance to Oklahoma State when her niece moved to Stillwater and she didn’t think OSU got enough respect. She enjoyed watching sports. Her favorites were football, basketball, and tennis.  She rarely missed a tennis grand slam event no matter what time it aired.

Marge relocated to Dallas in October 2011 to be closer to her immediate family. Marge liked to take care of “the babies” at her residence.  She has been affectionately name “grandma” and “Margie” by her nurses and care givers.

Marge had an everlasting smile. It will warm your heart, lift you up, remind you that things aren’t as bad as they seem, and something you could count on day in and day out.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, Murriel A. Shope in 1941, her mother, Rosalie Holley in 1996, her brother William “Bill” Shope in 1992, and her husband of 68 years, John, in 2011.
