Funeral service for Martha J. Taylor, 77 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Elder Robert Myers of Duncan, Oklahoma officiating.
Ms. Taylor passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
Martha was born on December 18, 1940 in Coleridge, North Carolina to William and Exie (Cheek) Green. She grew up in Coleridge where she attended school. She married Leroy Taylor and they were together 25 years raising six children. After the kids were grown, Martha worked for a while at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church and spent her time reading her bible. The holidays were always spent at "Grandma's House" and she loved to travel. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Lacey Green of Alabama and William Green of Amarillo, Texas; four daughters and spouses, Barbara Williams, of Lawton, OK, Martha Green of Lawton, OK, Pearlie and Willie Martin, of Dallas, TX, and Tawanda and Avionne Reese, of Fountain, CO; her brother, Monroe Nelson, of Rochester, NY; six sisters and spouses, Edna Craven, of Rochester, NY, Maxine Patter, Nancy and Henry Spinks, Wilma and Earl McNeil, Mary and Randy Spinks, and Carol Spinks, all of Greensboro, NC; 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; her daughters in law, Alisha Green and Gloria Green; her sisters in law, Geraldine Spinks and husband Bill, of Rochester, NY and Diana Myers and husband, Robert, of Duncan, OK; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other loving family members; and her dear friends, Paulette Curry and Michelle Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Charles Jordan, Richard Andrew, and Arlen Richard Cheek.
