Marvin Ewell Spradlin

Graveside service for Marvin Ewell Spradlin, 78, of Frederick will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Grandfield Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Micky Miller of First Baptist Church of Grandfield officiating.   

Arrangements are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home. 

Mr. Spradlin passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Ewell was born on March 16, 1940, in Loveland, Oklahoma to Joe Bailey and Ima Mae (Green) Spradlin. He grew up in the Loveland area where he attended school. After graduating from Hollister High School in 1958, Ewell attended Barber college in Oklahoma City, returning to the Frederick area where he owned Ewell's Barber shop for over 40 years. He also owned Spradlin Construction Company and worked with the Southwest Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Manitou. He was a hard working man and also enjoyed fishing with his friends and daughter. He loved to catch Walleye at Tom Steed Lake. Ewell loved helping people. He also enjoyed watching Thunder basketball.  

He is survived by his daughter, Tamra Spradlin and her fiance, Brian Shaffer, of Edmond, OK; three brothers and two sisters in law, Wayne Spradlin, Don and Karen Spradlin and Neal and Colleen Spradlin, all of Grandfield, OK; three sisters and a brother in law, Marie Hobbs, of Jenks, OK, Sue Bentley, of Granbury, TX, and Karen and Cecil Josefy, of Grandfield, OK; his sister in law, LaDonna Spradlin; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Spradlin and Robert Spradlin; his sister in law, Marilyn Spradlin; and two brothers in law, Gary Don Bentley and Wes Hobbs. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Wichita Falls,  4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
