Mary Carol Gilley

Funeral service for Mary Carol Gilley, 80, of Lawton will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.

Mary passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Lawton.

Mary was born on April 15, 1938  at the Indian Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma to Horace and Alice (Bear) Newsom. She grew up east of Lawton in Punkin Center where she attended school. She worked for a while at Coca-Cola and later worked as a private housekeeper here in Lawton. 

She is survived by her sons and daughter in law, Verlon Shake and Diane Riley, Brett Mahaffey, Joe Mark Mahaffey, James Lyman Mahaffey,  and Terry Wayne Mahaffey; her daughter and son in law, Carol Sue and Rex Capshaw; her sisters and brothers in law, Joyce and Mac McDaniel, Bobbie and Robert Powell, Donna Lee and Hal Napier, and Roberta McClung; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Frederick Mahaffey; her grandson, Steffon Mahaffey; her brothers, Garland Newsom, Riley Newsom, Dixie "Bud" Newsom, and Patrick Earl Newsom; and her sister, Amy Bear Hall.
