Mary Elizabeth Smith

Memorial service for Mary Elizabeth Smith, 69 of Lawton will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Deacon Romaka, of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating. 

Mrs. Smith passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at her home in Lawton, OK.

Mary Elizabeth Young Smith was born on January 27, 1949 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Lt. Col. Thomas E. and Margaret (Curlett) Young. She was a graduate from the University of Oklahoma Department of Education with a major in secondary English. Well educated, well-traveled, and well-versed on many subjects, she enjoyed a full and accomplished life including teaching for the Lawton Public School System for 25 years, retiring in 2005. She married Steven Allen Smith at Holy Family Catholic Church in 1987.  

She is survived by her husband, Steve, of the home; her son and daughter in law, Ryan Matthew and Molly Lewis; her stepchildren, Steven Scott Smith and spouse, Christopher McClung, and Mikel Smith Rivera; her brother and sister in law, Thomas P. and Paige Young; her sister and brother in law, Carol Ann and Lt Gen (ret) Randall L. Rigby; her brothers in law and sisters in law, Larry and Dottie Smith and their son, Ian and wife, Johanna Smith and Sherry and Scott Newton, and their children. She embraced four grandchildren, Lizzy, Charlie, Gabriel, and Jeran.
