Mildred Alene Kennedy

Funeral service for Mildred Alene Kennedy, 86, of Lawton will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willie Irvin officiating.  

Burial will be at Flower Mound Cemetery. 

Mrs.  Kennedy went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 in Lawton.  

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Mildred  Alene Kennedy was born on July 8, 1932 on her parents farm in Lawton, Oklahoma to Hugh D. and Hazel (Barbie) Allison.  She attended Flower Mound Schools.  Mildred was always busy around her families farm and could often be found helping her father break horses, milk cows, or tending to any other chore that needed to be done. She married the love of her life, John Clifford Kennedy on March 14, 1951, and spent a 66 years creating memories until his passing on November  30, 2017. Mildred was a hard worker and enjoyed her job working as a telephone operator,  linemen, retiring as a repeater tech after 37 years of employment  for Southwestern Bell and AT&T. She enjoyed driving the school bus for Lawton schools for 14 years. She had a passion for the art of home economics, especially sewing and canning  fruits and vegetables, and was dedicated  teaching this to others from the time she was a girl all through her life. Mildred was a caring mother, devoted wife, and loved every minute with her family.     

 She is survived by her son, Alton Kennedy; two grandsons and their spouses,  Christopher and Jessica Kennedy, and Derick and April Kennedy; four great grandchildren, John W. Kennedy, Micaela Wermy, Caitlyn Kennedy, and Wyatt Kennedy; and numerous nieces, nephews, close relatives, and a host of loving friends.    

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Hazel Allison; her husband, John Clifford Kennedy; 11 siblings; and her daughter-in-law, Beth Kennedy.
