Myong Ok Yun

Funeral service for Myong Ok Yun, 73 of Lawton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 in the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel. 

Mr. Yun passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Oklahoma.  

A special visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the funeral home.   

Myong was born on June 3, 1945 in Mokpo, South Korea to Yong An Yun and Oh Seng Yun. He grew up in South Korea where he attended school, graduating from Sarijo Men’s Catholic High School in 1963. He served as a dental assistant in the South Korean Army and served in Vietnam.  He came to the United States in 1976.  Myong and his wife returned to the Lawton/Fort Sill area in 2013. He married Kim Won Woo on March 17, 1973 in Seoul , South Korea. Myong was a loving husband and father.  He was a devout Catholic.  From the time he returned to Lawton, he and his family attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  In his leisure time he enjoyed dancing, chinese calligraphy, painting, drawing, and sketching.

He is survived by his wife Kim Won Woo Yun, of the home; his son Edwin Yun of Mesa, AZ, and his daughter Joann Yun of New York, NY.  He also leaves behind a sister, Myong Hui Kahng as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Sang Dae Yun and Myong Su Yun and two sisters: Jung Sook Kang and Myong Cha Williams.
