Nelly "Elsa" Colón Nieves

A mass of Christian Burial for Nelly “Elsa” Colón Nieves, 65, of Alvardo, TX will be held at Noon on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawton, OK.   FR. Phillip Seeton will officiate the mass.
A Special visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday March 15, 2018 at the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral home.
A Rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Nelly will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens with her brother Rafael.
Nelly entered into her heavenly home on Sunday March 11, 2018.
Nelly Elsie Colón Nieves was born on March 29, 1952 to US Army 1SG (ret) Lorenzo Colón and Carmen (Nieves) Colón in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.  She was the fourth child and the youngest daughter of six children born to Lorenzo and Carmen. When her father was still in the military, she had the opportunity to live in Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., Germany, Fort Benning, GA and Fort Sill (Lawton), OK.  She attended Eisenhower Jr. High and Eisenhower High School.   Most of her adult life she worked in the dry-cleaning industry in Oklahoma City, OK, Crowley and Arlington, TX.  She was previously married to Gary Vick of Oklahoma City and she had one son from that marriage.  She was a very friendly and giving person; she never met a stranger and was always giving gifts to those around her.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Vick of Oklahoma City.  Her granddaughter Hannah Vick of Oklahoma City.  Her sisters, Maria Stebbins and her husband Gary of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Teresa Colón Pondrom and her husband Frank of Lawrence, Kansas and her brother Francisco Colón Nieves and his wife Susan of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother, Rolando Colón Nieves and her youngest brother Rafael Colón Nieves.
