Paul K Avant

Funeral service for Paul K. Avant, 87 of Loveland will be at 2:00 p.m.  on Thursday, June 21, 2018 Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Morgan officiating.  

Mr. Avant went to the lord on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home in Loveland. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home. 

Paul was born on June 22,1930 in Loveland, Oklahoma  to Clay Seldom and Fay Avant.  He grew up and spent most of his life in Loveland.  He served his country in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return he met the love of his life Willie Loraine Tyler. They were joined together in marriage on March 21, 1958 in the Central Baptist Church in Burkburnett, Texas. He had a passion for fishing, and racing cars, he was one of the original racers in the racetrack in Lawton. Paul worked hard tending his land and crops, growing  cotton, wheat, and corn.  He was equally mindful in tending to his family being a loving husband and father. Paul loved spending time with his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his entire world, and a constant source of pride. Paul never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, his selflessness, and compassion in this world will be sorely missed.  

He is survived by his wife Loraine of the home; daughter and son in law, Patricia and Dale Crossland of Loveland; brother, Donald and wife Francis Avant of Loveland; four grandchildren, Shawnta Sheppard of Wichita Falls, Texas, Amanda Smith of Burkburnett, Texas, Justin Avant of Fredrick, and Ashliegh Lewis of Burkburnett, Texas; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.  

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul K. Avant Jr. ; three brothers, Harold Avant, Dee Avant, and Jack  Avant.
