Funeral service for Ruby Mae Welborn, 100 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Burch, retired pastor officiating.
Mrs. Welborn passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Lawton.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
There will be a special viewing and visitation on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby was born on February 27, 1919 in Stratford, Oklahoma to George Washington and Mozeller (Ledford) Burch. She grew up in Southwest Oklahoma and graduated from Geronimo High School in 1937. She married Charlie Howard Welborn on September 28, 1940 in Lawton. Mr. Welborn passed away on February 17, 2008. Ruby was a homemaker and was the best cook. She loved children and enjoyed all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching her daytime stories on tv. She will be missed by all who knew her. Ruby was a long time member of the 6th and Arlington Church of Christ and was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ.
She is survived by her Daughter, Alice Blackstar, of Walters; her son and daughter in law, George and Judy Welborn, of Lawton; brothers and sisters in law, Bob and Roberta Burch, of Corum, OK and Leonard and Marie Burch, of Lawton; her sister, Owedia Smiley, of Lawton; her grandchildren and spouses, Diana Marie Welborn, Connie Lynn and Eugene Dinshah, Michael Howard Welborn, Jeremy and Gina Welborn, Cene' and Stephen Burrow, Rodney Blackstar, and Dawn Blackstar-James and Hayden James; 22 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; her son, Charlie Welborn; her grandchildren, Kristina Blackstar and Sean Corbin; her brothers, Fred Burch, Ned Burch, Roy Burch, Ivan Burch, and Dewey Burch; and her sisters, Hazel Dunbar and Edna Marrow; her son in law, Thomas Blackstar; and her daughters in law, Nancy Welborn Hodges and Diana Welborn.
