Funeral service for SFC (ret) Albert W. McClellan, 80 of Lawton will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. McClellan joined his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 4, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Burial with full military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Albert was born on August 20, 1938 in Fairfield, Alabama to Joseph McClellan and Johnnie Mae Black. He grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where he attended school. He joined the United States Army in 1955 and served in Korea, Germany, Vietnam, and many states within the USA. He received many awards and medals including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal-Sixth award, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Unit Citation with Palm, National Defense Service Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Service Stars, and the Expert Rifle Award. Albert married Miss Flora "Flo" Williams on March 9, 1959 in Lawton, Oklahoma. While stationed at Fort Sill, he attended Cameron University before retiring from the military on October 1, 1978. He then attended Great Plains Technology Center. Albert begin a career as a pipefitter working for Brown and Root, B&B Protection Sprinklers, P&L Fire Protection Sprinklers, and Iberville Services, Inc. He then worked for the City of Lawton as a laborer and later he worked in the meat department at the Fort Sill Commissary. Mrs. McClellan passed away on November 8, 1994 in Lawton where they had made their home. Albert was an avid golfer and played in the Crime Stoppers Tournament.
He is survived by two daughters, Jo Lynn McClellan, of Dallas, TX and Tracy McClellan of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Donald Williamson and wife, Aretha, William Johnson, Isaiah Roberson, Akayah Roberson, Savanah Roberson, and Micah D. McClellan; his sister, Margaret Washington, of Birmingham, AL; two sisters in law and brothers in law, Willie Mae and Charles Spencer, Sr of Albany, NY, and Josephine and Albert Moore, of Cleveland, OH; two special cousins, Carolyn Major, Lawton, OK and John L. McClellan and wife, Bertha, Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora; his daughter, Althea L. Roberson; grandson, Bobby McClellan; step granddaughter, Verdel Gamble-Caddo; sister, Jessie Webb; four brothers and three other sisters; uncles, John L. McClellan, Sr., Sam McClellan, Jackson McClellan, Albert McClellan, Lonnie McClellan, and Calvin McClellan; his aunts, Hattie Mae Whittaker, Helen McClellan, and Emma McClellan; two infant grandchildren and one infant son.
