Graveside service for Sandy Gayle Gilliam, 71 of Lawton will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Hensley officiating. 

Sandy passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Lawton. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

A "Celebration of Life Memorial Service" will be held at 2:00 p.m on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Flower Mound School Gym. 

The family request that you wear something red to honor Sandy's love for OU. 

Sandy was born on February 7, 1947 to Harold Eugene Hodges and Twila Belle "Repp" Hodges in Anadarko, OK. The family moved to Apache, Oklahoma when she was 14. She graduated from Apache High School in 1965. She worked at the family's grocery store and continued to work there when she moved to Lawton, Oklahoma. She married Ken Gilliam in March of 1975 to that union, a son and a daughter were born. They lived in many locations throughout Ken's military career including Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, and Missouri, returning to Lawton in 1989. She and Ken remained friends throughout her life. In Lawton, she began her career  as a Teacher's Assistant at Flower Mound School in 1991 and continued there until her passing. Sandy loved OU Football, going to the Thunder Basketball games with her cousin, Janey, and shopping. She was always on the go and was up for anything. She loved spending time with her grandchildren Sandy was a great storyteller who loved to talk and visit.   

She was survived by her son and daughter in law, Kenny and Laura Gilliam, of Grand Prairie, Texas; her daughter and son in law, Melissa and Jay Hunt, of Lawton, Oklahoma; her brother and sister in law, Jeff and Beckey Hodges, of Elgin, Oklahoma; her sister and brother in law, Linda and Mark Ferrell, of Apache, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kayla Gilliam, Andrew Gilliam, Maddy Hunt, Brenden Gilliam, Karsyn Hunt, and Peyton Hunt; nieces and nephews, Christi and Scott Franklin, Misty and Bobby Lamont, Ashley and Beau Waltrip, Malina Bentley and her family, Sarah Hodges, Preslea Franklin, McCartney Franklin, Jaycee LaVelle, Braxton Waltrip, Merik Lamont, and Dayson Lamont; and a host of loving friends including special friends, Judy Keever, of Apache, OK, Pam Russell, of Lawton, OK, and Chris Giles, of Lawton, OK. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson, Gabriel Jayson Hunt.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OK Kids Korral at 818 NE 8th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104.
