Sherry J. Carter-Tilley

Word has been received of the death of Sherry J. Carter-Tilley who passed away Jan. 10, 2022 from a lengthy illness. 

A private family burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 
 
Sherry was born on July 23, 1939 in Lawton, OK to Leonard and Hazel (Bishop) Carter. She attended school at Lawton High School and Arizona State studied Horticulture. Sherry worked as an independent hair stylist. She and her husband were owners of Tri-Star Energy and All-Tel Phone Company. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin. She loved her family and her pets and not necessarily in that order. When she was younger she volunteered at the animal shelter for many years. 

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Clyde Tilley, of the home; her daughter, Sheryl Rufo and her husband, Robert Rufo of Sterling, OK; her son, Leonard Rhea, of Lawton, OK; her grandchildren; Rhealyn Rufo Kindeal Rhea and Kassidy Rhea;  and her brother, Robert W. Carter and wife, Jeanette. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Sandra Zumwalt and Bettye Carter, all of Lawton, OK.
