Staff Sgt. Robert Charles Day

September 11, 1968 ~ May 21, 2022 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Tribute

Staff Sgt. Robert Charles Day, 53, of Lawton, OK passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at home of a heart attack. He was born September 11, 1968, in Little Rock, Arkansas and adopted in Oklahoma City to Dr. Ralph W. Day and Brenda Day (Hastings). He met his wife, Lorraine Day (Armstrong), at the video store inside a Giant Eagle in Warren, OH – where she was working. On March 5, 1991, he married Lorraine in Warren, OH. Together they had two sons, Robert Charles (Robbie) Day II, 24, and Kevin Douglas Day, 20. Robert and Lorraine were married for 31 years.

Growing up a military child, Robert considered himself mostly raised in New Hampshire. He never graduated high school, but he let never let that be the end of his education. He received his GED, attempted some college, received a significant amount of life and technical education through the military, and was most proud of his Diesel Fuel Certification from Oklahoma Technical College. Dedicated to service, he spent 27 years in the military, and was active duty after the birth of his oldest son in 1997 until April 2016. He served two tours in Iraq during the war, two tours in South Korea, a tour in Kosovo, and a tour in Panama. In addition to military service, he served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Paradise Valley Fire Department for a few years before his final deployment in Korea. His most recent job, his favorite job, was working as a Diesel Fuel Technician for RP Power where he worked on Kohler Generators across the state of Oklahoma. His hobbies were grilling, boating, fishing with his father, feeding the birds, and talking to everyone about his grand plans with his family for the future. He was an avid collector of tools and always wanted to have a shop that would equal that of his father. He was so proud of his sons and how hard they work – both in school and in their careers.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Lorraine; two sons Robbie Day of Edmond, OK and Kevin Day of Lawton, OK; father Ralph (Diane) Day of Sand Springs, OK, mother Brenda Day of Goffstown, NH, biological father Joe (Jeanne) Baldwin of Loveland, CO; siblings Kelly (Rob) Davies of Wakefield, NH, Diane (Rob) Biron of Goffstown, NH, Bobby (Bonnie) Day of New Durham, NH, Alex Day of Tulsa, OK, and Anniska (Lupe Abad) Day of Broken Arrow, OK; biological siblings Joe Baldwin, Jr. of San Tan Valley, AZ and Jay (Tami) Baldwin of Thorton, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Kay, and his favorite dog and service animal, Bella.
