Funeral service for Thelma I. McCaig, 89, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Lawton First Assembly with Rev. Don Barnes, senior pastor and Rev. Gary Pratt, associate pastor, officiating.
Mrs. McCaig passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 in Lawton.
Burial will be at Letitia Cemetery, Lawton, Oklahoma under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Thelma was born on November 23, 1930 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Richard P. and Pearly (Duncan) Chambers. The family moved to Lawton when Thelma was 8 years old. After high school, she married JW McCaig on December 25, 1949. Mr. McCaig passed away on October 4, 1992 after 43 years of marriage. Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and painting. She was a member and past president of the Oklahoma Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary Club and was "Lady of the Year" in 2009.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ronald and Sandy McCaig, of Olympia, Washington; two daughters and a son in law, Patricia and Lynn Wood, of Rocky, Oklahoma and Elizabeth Edwards, of Missouri; her sister, Janey Welborn, of Lawton, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, JW McCaig; her brothers, Bill Chambers, James Chambers, Rodney Chambers, and Sherman Lee Chambers; and her sisters, Mary Francis Dean and Marie Chambers.
