Thomas Robert Melton

Memorial service for Thomas Robert Melton, 85 of Surprise, Arizona will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Abundant Life Church in Geronimo with Rev. Tony Elkins officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.   
Tom was born on October 6, 1932 in Michigan to Carlton and Mayola (Leonard) Melton. He graduated high school in 1949 and joined the United States Air Force. While stationed in Rome, New York, he met and married Charlotte Schrefer. From that union, three children were born. After their divorce he met Ro Jean Bode in California and they had two children. Tom's last marriage was to Tan Siew Teen Melton and they remained married until her death. After Tom left the Air Force as a Staff Sargent, he moved to California where he worked for LA County as an inspector. When he retired, he traveled and worked in several countries including Somalia, New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia. He loved meeting new people and playing golf, karaoke, sporting events, and gambling. 

He is survived by his step-mom, Pat Melton; two sisters, Violet Weier and Sandy Melton; his children, Thomas Melton, Penny Chapman, and Shelley Melton from his first marriage and Michael Melton and Wendy Melton from his second marriage; grandchildren, John Sarine, James Scott, Roger Fannin, Jo Lepien, Tommy Scott, Jennifer Webb, Nichole Sangassan, Chad Fannin, Leslye Elkins, Tori Morales, Ashlee Beasley, and Chris Fannin; 26 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tan Siew Teen Melton; two sisters, Wanda and Carol; his brother, Carlton; and grandson, Jordan Bloomer.
