Vern "Buddy" Allen Gossett, Jr

Word has been received of the death of former Grandfield resident, Vern "Buddy" Allen Gossett, Jr, 67, of Lake Arrowhead, Texas.

Mr. Gossett passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Texas. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home.  

Buddy was born on May 28, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Vern Allen Gossett, Sr. and Sally (Funkhouser) Gossett. He grew up north of Grandfield and graduated from Grandfield High School in 1969. He then attended Southwestern College where he received his Bachelor's degree in Business. He married Pamela Hickey on December 23, 1970 in Grandfield. Buddy worked for a while for Don McLain Construction and later took over the family's farming business. He then worked for the City of Wichita Falls until his retirement when he then moved to Lake Arrowhead. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor cooking. He was also very involved in the local FFA with his kids.  

He is survived by his son, Dusty Gossett, of Wichita Falls, Texas; his daughter and son in law, Carrey and Lee Varelman, of Healdton, Oklahoma; his sisters and a brother in law, Caroll Lugo, of Oklahoma City, OK and Nancy and Leroy Rhodes, of Edmond, OK; his grandchildren, Dayton Williams, Rand Varelman, and Camlann Varelman; his former wife, Pam Gossett, of Grandfield, OK: his  special friend, Tammi Brown, of Lake Arrowhead, Texas, and his niece and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Jax  Varelman.
