Virgie C. Williams, 88, of Velma, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Duncan, Oklahoma under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Virgie was born on February 17, 1932, to William Milam Clifton Nash and Avis Louise (Tuberville) Nash in Lawson, Arkansas. Virgie spent her childhood moving from town to town with her father’s job in the oilfields of the south. She met countless great friends along the way. Virgie graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia, Louisiana, and attended Warner Brooks Catholic School of Nursing.
On February 29, 1952, Virgie left Catholic Nursing School to marry Eldred (Ed) Williams in Texarkana, Arkansas. She held several positions in the medical field before she left her work to stay home and raise her family. She loved making sure her boys had plenty of hot water cornbread, black beans, and whatever side of meat and potatoes they wanted for every meal but breakfast. She also enjoyed taking trips all over the country with Ed, reading her vast collection of novels, and tending to her flowers and plants around her home. Her greatest joy of all was raising both of her sons. She was ever the southern Lady and a member of the Velma Church of Christ.
Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, and brother Jim Nash.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Williams & wife Tammy of Beaver, Oklahoma; Matt Williams of Dallas, Texas; 3 grandchildren Brandon Williams & wife RaDona of Panhandle, Texas; Blake Williams of Beaver, Oklahoma; Kasey Tarrant of Duncan, Oklahoma; great-granddaughters: Lexi, Kali, and Harper Williams of Panhandle, Texas; and great-grandson Brady Earsom of Duncan, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Velma Church of Christ in her name.
