Wynelle Frances Garten

Funeral service for Wynelle Frances Garten, 91 of Lawton will be 12:00 Noon, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Reimer, pastor of Faith Bible Church officiating. 

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Garten passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Lawton.

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Wynelle was born on February 4, 1928 in Rockmart, Georgia to William and Lenora (Broadwell) Dean. She grew up in the Goodyear Village and after graduating high school she went to work for Goodyear for a few years before moving to Atlanta, Georgia and worked for Richey's Department Store. Her brother invited her to come to Oklahoma for a visit and while sitting at a local restaurant, she looked up and saw a man on a horse and asked her brother if that was a "Real Cowboy" to which her brother answered yes and the rest is history... She married that cowboy, Roe M. Garten on July 29,1950. They remained in Oklahoma and raised their children. Roe passed away on April 21, 1992. Wynelle loved family gatherings and her pride and joy was cooking for her family. She also enjoyed canning and quilting. Wynelle was a devout christian and read her bible everyday. She was a loving wife, a great mom, and a wonderful granny who will be missed by her beloved family and friends. 

She is survived by her children and spouses, Jerry and Kathy Garten, of Pumpkin Center, OK, Pauline Garrett and Beverly Hitt, of Lawton, OK and Colleen Longacre and Billy Butcher, of Indiahoma, OK; her grandchildren and spouses, Chuck Longacre and David Frizzell, James Garrett and Heather Whitmore, Dustin and Lacey Henderson, Missy Beckett Clift, Candy Jones and Covy Carr, Carey Longacre, Shawn and Brianna Clift, April and Luke Luikart, Jarrid and Jordan Henderson, Heather and Chaz Keith, Tara and Brian Kreiger and Tonya and Brian Rushing; her great grandchildren, Kaleb, Abby, Calynn, Kenna, Lila, Charles, Kase, Travis, Taylor and Cody, Allison, Bryce, RayLyn, William, Chandler, Kanon, Celina, Kalen, Wiggy, Rykr, Rugr, Satin and Terrell, and Raven and Tanner; and her great great grandchildren, Kinsley, Carson, Isaiah, Ryder, Ryleigh, and coming soon, Rosalee. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years,  Roe M. Garten; her son, Larry J. Garten; her stepson, Franklin Garten; her sisters, Gladys Dunn and Irma Copeland her brothers, Bill Dean and Ghilmer Dean; her son in law, Charles Longacre; and her daughter in law, Rusty Louise Garten.
