Funeral mass for former Lawton resident, Glyna Marie Stuever, 94, McKinney, Texas, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Ross, officiating.

Mrs. Stuever passed away on Tuesday, April, 22, 2014 in McKinney, Texas at a local care center.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter  Gray Funeral Home.

Glyna was born on January 14, 1920 in Bowie, Texas to Antonio William and Ruby Pearl  (Dane) Perona. She married Frank J. Stuever on March 21, 1938 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Glyna was a seamstress and tailor creating wedding gowns and bridesmaid gowns.  On occasion she would make one of her many granddaughters a dress & enter it into the county fair. She won a lot of blue ribbons on her entries. One granddaughter wore her dress with ribbon attached to school. She also owned and taught lessons at a local cake decorating shop. She made the most beautiful wedding cakes.

She was awarded Comanche County Homemaker of the Year 2 times from the Progressive Extension Homemakers Group, where she was an active member for over 20 years. She served as president, vice president and cultural arts
chairman of Comanche County Extension Homemakers Council for many of those years.

She also enjoyed taking classes on creative writing. She published a few poems, and wrote several stories, including some about the boyhood of her husband Frank.

She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church were she served
as president and secretary of the Altar Society.

Glyna is survived by her children, Twyla Regina Gordon, of Denison, Texas, Richard Vincent Stuever, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Gregory Neal Stuever, of Spring Valley, California, and John Karl Stuever, of Lawton, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, children, Mary Elizabeth Stuever, Geriane Stuever, Marie Stuever, Frankie J. Stuever, Jr., Frances Kay Getz, William Ben Stuever, and Joseph Patton Stuever, grandchildren, David Michael Ferris, and Ann Elizabeth Price, and a great granddaughter, Robby LeAnn Nored.
