Helen (Massey) Pruitt

Funeral service for Helen Pruitt, 95 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Litchford, pastor officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Helen passed away on Monday April 3rd, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma to be with her Savior.

Helen was born on August 15, 1921 in Cordell, Oklahoma to John Howell and Mary Pauline (DeMarcus) Massey. Shortly after moving to Lawton, Helen worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  It became necessary for her return to Meers, Oklahoma to manage her family's farm while her brothers were away serving in World War II. She married Buford "Pee Wee" Pruitt in 1947 in Watonga, Oklahoma where they spent 56 wonderful years together. Pee Wee passed away in 2003. She loved to cook, canning, fishing, gardening and she was a caring person who took care of everyone. Helen was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie McDaniel, of Geronimo, OK and Lisa Herring, of Lawton,OK; her son, Clayton Pruitt, of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Michael and Sid Burrow, of Hot Springs, AR, Connie and Jimmy Guibert, of Apache, OK, Barry Herring, of Lawton, OK and Jason Herring, of Lawton, OK; great grandchildren, Gip Burrow, Hayden Burrow and Anesia Martinez; and many nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buford "Pee Wee" Pruitt; two brothers, N.B. Massey and Jim Massey and four sisters, Lillian Taylor, Lula Britton, Juna Bradshaw, and Tennie Bell Taylor.
