Sylvia,
I am sorry to hear about your loss. Roland was so very special and I know that you will miss him. I truly enjoyed working with him on the committees, snack suppers and when he would volunteer in the office. Sorry I could not attend his services today.
Prayers for God's comfort and peace for you and your family.

ROLAND ROGERS
(Good Husband, Father, and Friend)
Thoughts now spinning in my head
Remembering a life not there
Hurting now for a family left
Praying our love and care.
Roland was a special friend.
We both are Army Vets.
He, two tours in Vietnam--
Me one--enough, you bet!
A great man, he, wise and strong,
I admired him much, you know,
Seeing his hard work in what he did,
(Including the RV he towed.)
We both were members of an RV club
And a common church we shared.
When talking of things in both these places
I could see how much he cared.
Not many words, but what he said
Of worth for all to hear.
A comment on the middle east war
Was one we all could fear.
When good friends go, it leaves a hole--
Though recent visits were rare.
Yet now no longer can we visit,
"Cause they're no longer there.
Now at last he's done his time
On earth with family and friends.
He's presently with our Lord above
In a life that never ends.

As a member of Meers VFD, I worked with Roland several times over the years. They do not make them like him anymore!! Dedicated to what he got involved in, and that dedication was catchy. The community will miss him.
