Dorothy May Kensell

Funeral service for Dorothy May Kensell, 90, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Litchford and Rev. Jimmy Lehew officiating. 

Dorothy Kensell passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Snyder, Oklahoma. 

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born on May 13, 1926 in Springfield, Missouri to George Washington Hunt and Zora Alma (Kirkes) Hunt. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1944. She married Glenn Kensell in 1950. Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and baking, and needlepoint crafts. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. She worked in the banking industry and for Goodyear. 

She is survived by her son, Mark Kensell of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Cindy Kensell of Lawton, OK, and Lisa Wise, of Houston, TX; one sister in law, June Hunt; four grandchildren, Kelly and husband Randy Townsend, of Dallas, TX, Kristen Kensell, of Dallas, TX, Lynsae and husband Nathan Davidson, of Yulee, FL, and Jordan and wife Kristy Wise, of Sneads Ferry, NC; and five great grandchildren, Trey Townsend, Sloane Kensell, Cody Wise, Kayla Key, and Connor Wise.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Kensell; her parents, George and Zora Hunt; three brothers, Billy Hunt, Bobby Hunt, and Johnny Hunt; and two sisters Georgia Kirkpatrick and Nancy Herritt.
