Tami, I knew your mother as a trainer at Whirlpool Corp. over 20 yrs. ago. She was a wonderful trainer-- lots of humor & down-to-earth techniques for teaching all of us newbies what we needed to know for the job. I knew her also, though, through the Holiday Concerts that were held for the employees & families every year. She coordinated quite a bit of it. I'm a singer too and she graciously included me in a number of trios and quartets that we performed together. She was a true professional and I was sad to learn that for one of the last years I was part of that concert, the powers that be told her not to perform her signature song, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." That was always the highlight of the show and the the concert was the poorer for the lack of it. I thank God that I knew your Mom-- she was a bright spot at the Whirlpool Customer Center, which had become kind of a dark and oppressive place to work. She was someone who was great at her job and really cared about others.

Tami,
I am so very sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was a wonderful friend to me. I remember her warm personality and her witty sense of humor with me. We were able to confide many things in each other over the years. I will never forget how gracious, kind and supportive she was to me. Please email me when you get a chance and I will tell you why I chose the image of a golf ball.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I love your mom. I love that she always had kind word. I loved it when she didn't. :) I loved her voice. A voice she gave to you. Not just singing but a voice that has an opinion with intelligence behind it. A voice that gives guidance and advice. You feel things the way you do because of your mother. I love her most because she gave me you and I wouldn't give that up for anything. I love you babe! I'm always here for you.

Tami, our hearts go out to you as you grieve for your dear mom. Lainie was a remarkable person who had an uncanny ability to know exactly what her friends needed and when they needed it, whether that need was a warm hug, kind words, or a strong kick in the right direction! When we worked together in our 20s Lainie was one of my biggest cheerleaders as I worked to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. She always believed in me even when I wasn't sure I believed in myself. She was also the kindest critic I've even known! We lost touch for several years but reconnected and took up right where we'd left off. Lainie was just that kind of person. She will be sorely missed..

Tami, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Although I never met you, I knew of you because your mom was so proud of you. I worked with Elaine at Whirlpool, and she was my 1st trainer. She was such a mentor to so many people, and I always had a great amount of respect and admiration for her. Then I heard her sing!!! She was truly a blessing to all who knew her, and our lives were greatly enriched for having known her. May God bring you peace during this difficult time, and know that she touched so many lives with her giving spirit, and her gentle voice. RIP Elaine, and thank you for being you!!!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Elaine. She was a women of faith that kept her strong all her life. She loved music, and of course her daughter Tami. She had one of the most beautiful singing voices I have ever heard. She will be missed by her many friends. I will miss her too..

So many memories of a special friend - but my favorite is Elaine singing at the Whirlpool Christmas programs. I think of her every time I hear "Have yourself a Merry little Christmas...."

She was first my trainer, then my mentor, and finally my friend. Though we lost track of each other after her move to Oklahoma, I am forever grateful to have had her in my life.

RIH dear friend.

Tami, so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. She was a wonderful mentor to me at Whirlpool. While she was soft spoken, I learned quickly she was sharp and ahead of her time in so many ways, and she was funny! I think of her often, and recently she has been on my mind a lot. I remember when we drove to Knoxville for work, and also stopped to visit her family in Asheville. Seeing how proud George Beverly Shea was of his daughter and watching them singing together at the grand piano was something to remember. God bless Elaine, and God bless you Tami.

Lainie was a dear friend with whom I shared so much laughter, some times of trial, and a deep respect. Her e-letters and phone calls always made me laugh...a lot!...but also revealed an enormous depth of thought and revealed a resilience that constantly amazed me. Her great love of music was what prompted her most recent e-letter to me within the last month or so, sharing things she wanted me to listen to. From what her precious Tami shared with me, she passed away from this world into Jesus’s loving arms in a peaceful way, which was an enormous blessing, and one for which I thank God. She loved you, Tami, beyond any words I could ever begin to say, and was so proud of you, and she wanted more than anything to be a good mother to you. Tami, dear, God bless you and keep you forever in the knowledge that your mom loved you more than life itself. She was a good woman, and I look forward to seeing her again in heaven!
Love, Holly
